D E N A is a young singer/songwriter based in Berlin. Originally born and raised in Bulgaria, the songstress moved to Berlin where she focused on her dream of writing music, singing and programming beats. She's one oddball Eastern-European pop-star in the making.
Her Vibrant easy-to-love track, 'Cash, Diamond rings, swimming pools' is destined to divide opinion. She's cutting the dash with this hip-hop and old school R&B vibe, which is slowly becoming one of the summer's most replayable tracks.
Before anyone else mentions the similarities, i'd like to state that the new track from D E N A sounds an awful lot like M.I.A but without the uncomfortable self-importance, yet having all the crossover appeal that "Paper Planes" had. The track features the singer expressing that she doesn't care about material things and that she'd rather hang out with her friends. The video sees an insight into European culture with the paradox of middle class suburbia contrasted against the geekier and slightly forced image portrayed by D E N A's Cash, Diamond Rings, Swimming Pools track, making you question whether the song should be taken seriously or not.
The song is fun & fresh. Having some great simple hooks and lines, that will have you singing them for days.
