Following the footsteps of other British chanteuse like Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen, Ware combines the late 1980s and early 1990s stylings. Produced by Invisible's Dave Okumu with input from dance whiz Julio Bashmore. This crisp minimal house production creates a warmth and brutality that makes it a perfect record for the club culture with Ware's soulful voice taking centre stage. Whilst the album lives in post-dubstep times, it doesn't bang on about it. From the epic Wildest moments to the vibrant R&B gem Sweet Talk, Ware is generally an unshowy vocalist.
Devotion is already one of our favourite albums of 2012, even at this high standard her ceiling is still some way in the distance.
