Astrid’s Tea Party is an electro-dance rock band fronted by Astrid, a bewitching front woman. Think of Debbie Harry on overdrive, with searing guitar and synth licks and drum & bass as tight as two coats of paint. The Brighton based band has arrived after spending several years behind harnessing their craft for the larger stage, channeling songs of betrayal, paranoia, substance abuse, surveillance and love and hate; in short – chronicling your life.
The quartet has arrived with their debut single, ‘What’s In It For Me?’ The track is a jumpy, glam rock influenced track filtered with bouncy synthesisers, a heavy guitar, soaring drumbeat and the kind of driving, rapid bassline that can only come out of an 80s synth pop-inspired single. Front woman Astrid has been compared to the likes of Roisin Murphy with an underlying pop-punk attitude that reminds us of Charli XCX.
‘What’s In It For Me?’ is a great danceable pop track that grabs you where it hurts and makes you move. Astrid’s Tea Party has both lyrical charm and smarts to match its driving pop energy. The single will be available for sale and download 1st December, followed by an EP, which at the moment is set to be released in 2015.
